Creating a Color Palette in Illustrator

  • Open Illustrator
  • Create a new document
  • Use the Rectangle Tool (M) to create three squares
  • Each square should be a different color
  • Make sure the stroke is transparent

  • Select all three squares
  • Go to Object—>Blend—>Blend Options
  • Set the Spacing to ‘Specified Steps’
  • You can determine how many steps (colors) you want between each square

  • Press OK
  • Make sure all three squares are still selected
  • Go to Object—>Blend—>Make

  • You can move the block of colors to the side of the Artboard and use the Eye Dropper Tool (I) when you want to select a color
